An Open Letter to Kamala Harris

As a mother of daughters, I want them to know you as the force of nature that they have the ability to become. Dear Madame Vice President-elect, First, I want to congratulate you and President-elect Joe Biden on your historic win. It was your combined campaign that brought out a record number of American voters, and for that you should be extremely proud. But, this is just the beginning. Now the real work begins. As the first female, black, and Indian American in the second highest seat at the White House, you bear the burden of having to set a new bar. You can’t get away with just being a…

Recommended Baby Products from a Mama of Three

*Updated November 2023* Being a first time mom is an exciting experience filled with joy, but it can also be a time of high anxiety. Besides worrying about your health and the health of your little bun in the oven, you may also be frantically trying to decide what you need for baby! The Hard Days Remind Me of Why I Wanted to Become a Mom

Most days are very routine. Get the kids ready, take them to school, work for 8+ hours, pick them up, shuttle the oldest one to an extracurricular activity, go home, make dinner, sneak in some snuggle time, and go to bed. I like our routine; it’s simple and sweet, and usually leaves time for me to get things done in the evenings after the kids are asleep, or spend a little extra time with their daddy before we both pass out. However, not all days are just routine. There are hard days. And those hard days are the days I shine. …..my feet hurt, my back hurts, and I’m a…

My Birthing Experiences: A Story of Joy, Heartbreak, Fear, and an Unimaginable Love

For as long as I can remember, there are only 2 things I have ever been 100% sure about: I wanted to work for NASA and I wanted to be a mom. I was born to be a mom, and I had no problem letting everyone around me know that one day, preferably while I was in my early 20s, I was going to have a baby. Nothing can prepare you for the gut-wrenching reality of your doctor telling you that you may not be able to have any more children. Growing up I was always very willy-nilly about my health. You know how adults always say kids think they…

How to save fresh herbs for use later

So in the last few months I have really gotten into gardening, mostly herbs and veggies. My garden is amazing and perfect, of course….just kidding. I don’t know how I’m managing to do it, but I’m keeping it alive…for the moment. The one plant I have that basically grows like a weed is basil. I end up having to trim that thing down every few weeks just so it doesn’t start growing on top of the other things I have going on in the same planter (rosemary, mint, and peppers). I’ve made just about as much pesto as any human being can stand to consume, so I needed another idea…
